DetailsWe are seeking a focused, high-energy, experienced Health & Safety Manager to provide leadership and technical expertise to drive company–wide excellence in workplace safety and industrial hygiene. In addition, the OHSM will:

Perform hazard / risk assessments for analytical laboratory areas, animal vivaria, admin areas and facilities maintenance operations and implement remedial / compliant solutions

Provide gap analysis to identify, analyze, and eliminate workplace hazards in accordance with federal regulations

Create, maintain and implement industrial hygiene and safety programs for a 180,000sf contract research laboratory

Oversee Hazard Communication and Laboratory Standard programs

Develop, conduct and document various health an safety Training modules

Establish and maintain continuous improvement strategies and programs to achieve and sustain world-class Health & Safety performance levels

Provide uniform & consistent application of health & safety standards, interfacing with senior leadership to establish programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal standards

Provide recommendations to General Manager on all aspects of the work environment and the effectiveness of control measures to reduce exposures

Conduct ergonomic surveys and offer recommendations for improvement

Create, maintain and oversee Chemical Inventory Database

Develop and maintain safety Policies and Procedures

Lead and maintain air monitoring, chemical exposure air sampling , respiratory protection, hearing protection initiatives

Develop site evacuation and emergency response plan

Actively participate as head of the company Safety Committee

Qualifications:
* Master's degree in a related technical, scientific, or engineering discipline
* CSP & CIH board certifications
* Five (5) plus years experience in administering safety programs, and eliminating compliance issues preferably in a biotech, pharmaceutical environment.
* Experience with federal/state rules & regulations related to workplace safety
* Ability to recognize hazards, assess risk and suggest an appropriate mitigation plan
* Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NJDEP laws & regulations specifically Biosafety, Chemical Safety, Hazardous Waste Control, Machine Guarding, Ergonomics, Electrical Safety, Confined Spaces, DOT, forklift, HAZWOPER, etc.
* Successful track record of driving results by engaging others at various levels of the organization
* System development skills and experience
* Interpersonal skills and ability to work with many diverse internal partners.
* Well developed planning and organizational skills including the ability to work independently, prioritize activities, meet commitments, and proactively manage time and generally manage a heavy workload.
* Effective skills in facilitating networks and teams.
* Ability to effectively communicate and train operations personnel.
* Able to solve a broad range of complex problems
* Experience in defining and measuring business contribution and progress through metrics
* Experience working with health, safety and environmental regulations
* Experience investigating, documenting and providing solutions based on root cause analysis methodology
